Girls and Guns

A few weeks ago I attended a Concealed Carry class as required by my state to apply for a permit to carry a handgun. Out of about 45 attendees, two thirds were women. They all listened very intently and took notes as the material was presented. I wasn’t offended that they might have been encroaching on a “male space”, as a matter of fact I even thought “good for them”. Unfortunately if a state law passes, these women will not be able to protect themselves using a hand gun on our college campuses.

Ever since the Sandy Hook catastrophe liberal politicians have revived their campaign of government over-reach on the 2nd Amendment because they believe government is the solution to all of society’s ills, (while ironically it’s their policies that end up causing a great many of them). Something bad happened, the government must act! So in a classic example of liberal Democrats protecting us from evil, they’ve managed to also offend one of their core constituencies – women. According to them women might not know how to operate a gun effectively or shoot someone by mistake, as pointed out by Colorado Democratic Rep Joe Salazar:

“There are some gender inequities on college campuses, this is true and universities have been faced with that situation for a long time. It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, that’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble and when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop — pop a round at somebody.”

So even though women on college campuses have faced gender inequities for a long time, women can’t be sure if they feel like they’re going to be raped, they can’t tell if they’re in trouble and might start busting caps in every direction in a fit of confusion and hysteria. On the contrary none of the women in my CCW class seemed like the type to do this, but maybe I’m just not sexist enough. Can you think of anything better than a gun to “equalize” a woman with a bad guy that wants to harm her?

But fear not for our new Democrat Majority in Colorado is giving women other options to protect themselves from bad men. In a policy statement from the University of Colorado they’re all about helping women protect themselves as long as it doesn’t involve a firearm:

What To Do If You Are Attacked

These tips are designed to help you protect yourself on campus, in town, at your home, or while you travel. These are preventative tips and are designed to instruct you in crime prevention tactics.

Be realistic about your ability to protect yourself.

(You’re nothing but a girl, he’s bigger, stronger and faster than you.)

Your instinct may be to scream, go ahead! It may startle your attacker and give you an opportunity to run away.

(It’s cool to scream like a girl in this case, even though it’s something guys would never do.)

Kick off your shoes if you have time and can’t run in them.

(High heels are sexy. but they’re not very practical.)

Don’t take time to look back; just get away.

(Turning around to try and identify whoever you think is attacking you might slow you down.)

If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.

Just let him pretty much do whatever he wants, perhaps strike up a conversation.)

Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating.

(This will cause the attacker to flee from you in disgust.)

Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone.

(Assuming he’s not into that kind of thing, the discharge of bodily fluids is a sensible defense.)

Yelling, hitting or biting may give you a chance to escape, do it!

(And it will also piss him off enough to clock you upside the head or stab you, rendering you unconscious or dead.)

Understand that some actions on your part might lead to more harm.

(IOW – See above)

Remember, every emergency situation is different. Only you can decide which action is most appropriate.

(I’d like to carry a gun and defend myself with it, but you’ve made it illegal for me to do so.)

Equalist Democrats in Colorado want to take away the very tool that actually EQUALIZES women with a male attacker, because guns are scary and she might not know how to use it properly. Forget that it’s ostensibly meant to prevent a mass shooting. They would prefer women on campus spontaneously throw up, piss themselves and throw a hysterical hissy fit or “passively-resist” the attacker. How utterly sexist of them! “AAHHH! Please don’t rape me, I have Chlamydia right now!”

Bad guys are opportunists. Like a pack of wolves culling the herd for a calf or the weak and wounded. Women are easy targets, other men are best avoided. The safest place for a woman is with a man, preferably a man with a gun. If she happens to be independent; avoid being a victim of “rape culture” or a nasty mugging, if she wants equality with men out to harm her, she should learn how to shoot a gun and carry it with her. Your government will never end violence against women, or anyone else. Don’t let “The Party of Women” deny you the right to protect yourself. Don’t be a victim.
