Chris Dorner, the former LAPD officer who is currently the subject of a massive manhunt, posted a long manifesto demanding, among other things, the implementation of an assault weapons ban. He had high praise for Diane Feinstein and assorted other left-wing politicians and media figures.
Dorner has also compiled a comprehensive list of targets, including, among others, minority cops and “misandrist” lesbians (who are apparently not true feminists):
I am here to change and make policy. The culture of LAPD versus the community and honest/good officers needs to and will change. I am here to correct and calibrate your morale compasses to true north.
Those Caucasian officers who join South Bureau divisions (77th,SW,SE, an Harbor) with the sole intent to victimize minorities who are uneducated, and unaware of criminal law, civil law, and civil rights. You prefer the South bureau because a use of force/deadly force is likely and the individual you use UOF on will likely not report it. You are a high value target.
Those Black officers in supervisory ranks and pay grades who stay in south bureau (even though you live in the valley or OC) for the sole intent of getting retribution toward subordinate caucasians officers for the pain and hostile work environment their elders inflicted on you as probationers (P-1′s) and novice P-2′s. You are a high value target. You perpetuated the cycle of racism in the department as well. You breed a new generation of bigoted caucasian officer when you belittle them and treat them unfairly.
Those Hispanic officers who victimize their own ethnicity because they are new immigrants to this country and are unaware of their civil rights. You call them wetbacks to their face and demean them in front of fellow officers of different ethnicities so that you will receive some sort of acceptance from your colleagues. I’m not impressed. Most likely, your parents or grandparents were immigrants at one time, but you have forgotten that. You are a high value target.
Those lesbian officers in supervising positions who go to work, day in day out, with the sole intent of attempting to prove your misandrist authority (not feminism) to degrade male officers. You are a high value target.
Those Asian officers who stand by and observe everything I previously mentioned other officers participate in on a daily basis but you say nothing, stand for nothing and protect nothing. Why? Because of your usual saying, ” I……don’t like conflict”. You are a high value target as well.
Those of you who “go along to get along” have no backbone and destroy the foundation of courage. You are the enablers of those who are guilty of misconduct. You are just as guilty as those who break the code of ethics and oath you swore.
Mr. Dorner is on a one-man war against the Los Angeles PD, and claims to have weapons that are up to the job, including anti-materiel rifles and shoulder launched anti-aircraft missiles (I suspect he’s bluffing on that score).
So far he has killed a few people, including at least one cop, and spooked the LAPD into shooting some innocent pickup truck drivers (Dorner drives a pickup).
Although I doubt it will be reported as such, Dorner’s rampage is explicitly left terrorism, and it just might have the intended effect of helping the assault weapons ban along.
Dorner’s hubris is chilling. He is essentially saying “I am targeting police and killing a bunch of people so that the government will disarm the rest of the people.” In the meanwhile, he has prompted police to shoot several innocents, which sadly confirms some of what he wrote in the manifesto. The inherent contradictions suggest that he has truly gone insane, but one has to admit that he does provide an inside view of the crazy world of Los Angeles — supposedly the glorious future of the rest of the US.
Although I’d argue that the existence of people like Dorner, who is 6 feet tall, violent and over 250 lbs., justifies citizen ownership of effective firearms as self-defense weapons, his ploy might just work in our current climate.

Dorner is misinformed about the Reverend Fred Phelps; Fred Phelps is a Democrat–the Democrat that Democrats (outside Kansas) refuse to claim as one of their own. Political parties have to admit anyone who wants to enroll with them.
Dorner is probably going to be the mass shooter Democrats refuse to claim as one of their own. I wonder how Democrats are going to interpret his manifesto. A few thoughts,
1. The guy was railroaded and even the Dad of the guy the lesbian cop kicked says that his son was assaulted. They bounced him out because he violated the primary rule of being a cop which is to not rat out any other cops
2. He is on SSRI’s due to his depression of being fired from the LAPD and would not have done any of this if he had not been on those meds
3. The cops that shot the innocent truck drivers (two women) will not even have their pay docked, although the women will win $ millions out of the lawsuit
4. All the cops down here in S. Cali are out for blood, they will make sure that he does not survive to see jail time and are as trigger happy as I’ve ever seen them, if you drive a truck at all similar to his STAY OFF the road
5. Doubt that they use this as a justification for gun control as no children have been killed and it would look slightly racist so I would expect the MSM to keep somewhat of a low profile on this.
Overall this whole thing rests on the corruption in the police department/legal system that makes sure bad actors are rewarded and good cops are driven out of the system. We really do need gun control only not for ordinary citizens but for these out of control cops that are shooting first and asking questions later.

It won’t help the assault weapons ban because he’s a Democrat supporter. Had he been at all right-wing and caucasian he would have given the Democrats every reason to proceed. That’s all probably true, but I do think he must have gone insane. He’s apparently a fairly intelligent guy, yet he thinks that somehow one can disarm the people through Feinstein type policies without further empowering the police he so despises? His reasoning is seriously flawed — something came loose in there. Police always have been and always will be authoritarian, yet he is providing them with every excuse to be even more so. His is the kind of logic that created the current state of affairs in the first place, so Dorner is fighting a totally futile war.
I’m of a mind that people don’t go around shooting cops in cold blood unless those cops are dirty. LAPD has a long history of abuse and violence towards the citizens they are sworn to protect.
So when I see that this guy is on a rampage I’m inclined to believe him when he says they are corrupt.
That does not mean I support him or think his course of action is justified, and yet this is exactly the kind of violence that our government uses on it’s citizens and on people around the world.

See item #2 on my list, SSRI’s are one of the most dangerous drugs around and if you look you’ll see that almost all the mass shooters were on these Prozac like drugs, so yes he was/is insane but what caused it was most likely the drugs he was using to treat his “depression”. Not everybody that’s on them runs out and kills a bunch of people or themselves (suicide is typically listed on the black box warning label for these drugs) but enough do that these drugs should be banned.

Well, I’ll have to disagree with that. SSRIs are prescribed to people with mood disorders and some of them do irrational things. The media love to blame the SSRIs for the bad outcomes but it’s not the drugs it’s the people taking them that are the problem. Blaming the SSRIs is like saying guns kill people. Guns don’t kill people, the people holding the guns kill people.

I live in So Cal, so here’s a bit more info on the entire situation:
Dorner shot and killed a young couple on Sunday night this week in Orange County. The young woman was the daughter of an LAPD captain who was on Dorner’s list for screwing Dorner over at his disciplinary hearing. The young man was apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time. Last night, Dorner shot three police officers, killing one.
So Cal police shot two women early this morning, in two separate incidents, mistakenly thinking each was driving Dormer’s truck (a Nissan Titan). Both women were newspaper deliverers. One of the trucks, as can be seen on the LA Times website, is the wrong model (it’s a Toyota Tacoma).
The Second Amendment recognizes the right of members of the militia to keep and bear arms. What is this militia you ask?…
In other words, it is the cops who are the civilians, and the average citizen who is a member of the militia, and thus has the right to keep and bear military arms.
WE have a right to weapons, while they may carry them if WE allow them to, since the police are civilians we employ for our convenience. Personally, I’m not sure civilian cops should be allowed to be armed at all.
Actual definition: Civilians = not military. It does not mean “not cop.”

You said it! There must have been at least 20 bullet holes in that Toyota truck that the cops mistakenly thought was Dorner’s so I’m amazed either woman survived. One woman was shot in the hand and the other one was shot in the back. One of the women is 71 years old.
There was apparently also a similar incident in LA County where the cops shot at another vehicle they mistakenly thought was Dorner’s. Nobody was shot, so it’s not getting much press.
These guys are serving only to prove Dormer’s points far better than he could ever articualte in his rambling manifesto. I hope when this is all over, people will take a good, long hard look at some of the egregious police behavior we seem to be so famous for in this (so-called) left wing State. Why people put up with it is beyond me, but citizens here recently voted themselves a tax increase even though California currently spends more on prisons / probation system than on higher education (sigh!)
