At least Lance Armstrong did not commit check fraud (or at least has not yet been charged with it), unlike Marion Jones.
Marion Jones only spent six months in federal prison for her offense, and her ex-boyfriend Tim Montgomery claims that she knew more about the check fraud than she let on to prosecutors. Even worse, Marion Jones wanted to delay her sentencing because she was breastfeeding her son Amir.
Marion Jones is currently a life coach whose mantra is “take a break” when confronted with a potentially life-altering decision. I have zero respect for the “life coach” occupational title as it seems anyone with a pulse can become a life coach. She is doing pretty well for herself for someone who took a dump on track and field.
Unfortunately, because Lance Armstrong is male, he will probably not do so well for himself after his confession for doping.
Hope Solo is the goalie (and a good one) for the U.S. Women’s Olympic and World Cup soccer teams. She failed a drug test. No one is screaming for her head, or to have her kicked off the team. Quite the contrary. She’s still featured endorsing several top-tier products. The drug was a prescription drug for “pre-menstrual purposes”. Just happened to have a prohibited substance in it.
He is a corrupt athlete who lied habitually, expressed no remorse, stole victories from more deserving athletes and raked in millions for it.
That being said, and I hate to admit it, he did start people talking about mid-life male health. No one was talking about this before his much-publicized cancer. Now at least, it’s on the radar.
That being said, he should be taken to the cleaners by all the people from whom he stole via a career based upon a fiction.
It’s not cheating if everyone else is doing it too.
He’s still either the best bicyclist who ever lived or the best bicyclist that was also the best at chemical manipulation.
How was he able to mysteriously pass all the screenings?
The entire sport itself was corrupt, from the top down.
He’s the poster child for the whole scam.
His foundation has given $500,000,000 to cancer research – even if he got cancer through roiding.
Whenever I need to gauge what the wrong opinion on something is, I just read some of the regulars here:
- Livestrong does not fund research
- Everyone else was not the mastermind of the most sophisticated doping program in sports history
- Everyone else was not using an army of lawyers to intimidate and sue anyone who implied they were doping, and destroying their personal lives.
- We will never know whether Dopestrong was the best cyclist ever, as he has been using performance enhancers his entire career.
I was a pretty fair javelin thrower as a young bloke. Represented my country more than once. Gave it away by the time I was 23 because I was surrounded by steroid users. Ended up very cynical.

-Thos.
Also, if we are going that route; the damage he has done by raising awareness for cancer. How dare he right? I know, it sounds callous. However, he did just make himself the AL Gore of male health.
Al Gore knowingly used bad research to promote his views, and got promptly humiliated again; thus throwing the god promotion work he did for people going green.
I don’t think we have a global warming issue as much as I do that it is a natural occurrence. However, when you take all the good you have done under a lie; it horrifically tarnishes the reputation of the cause you push.
Al Gore ruined any headway by promoting bad science; Lance ruined any headway male cancer patients could get by living such a catastrophic lie. He then compounded it even further by going in front of that closet man hater Oprah. His truly is the gift to our opponents that may well keep on giving.
I use to really respect that guy; at least what I thought he was. The tarnish he has wrought on victims of male cancer is nightmarish. Perhaps his denial is to cover from the internal pain of the shame he has to be at least aware of?
Why are we even talking about Lance Armstrong? Cycling? Doping? Anyone with half a brain knew he was doping years ago, and that professional cycling was ground zero for designer performance enhancing drugs.
Professional sport was never about fair play. Wherever money is at stake there is inevitably corruption. It will never end. Singling out Lance Armstrong for doping then lying then coming clean when the evidence was irrefutable will simply change the narrative and give him a whole new career as an heroic ex-doper-who-outed-himself.
Americans love this sh*t.
Why do you think he chose the mud-queen Oprah? His story is no different to the classic wag-the-dog tale so loved by Americans. It is, in fact, a quintessentially American story. Wait and see, he’ll probably make as much money from outing himself than he did from cycling.
This guy just plays right into the Mangina mold . Soon she/he will be doing tours The Oprah cancer survivors tour .. With new book “I am Vulnerable , A chat with my friend Ryan Goslin .
Some one shoot me ” My hero’s are all dead .
He shouldn’t get fined or jailed until the banksters and people like John Corzine, Eric Holder and their ilk get charged first. These deviants did damage to the country more than Armstrong ever did. I do hope however the British newspaper gets their money back the payed to him for saying he was using performance enhancing drugs. The Lame stream media is using this as a distraction.
Had not heard of Hope Solo before, so I did a quick lookup, and it appears that the banned substance that she was using was canrenone, which is a diuretic, and all diuretics are prohibited according to heading S5 of this paper, not because of any performance-enhancing properties, but because they can be used as masking agents, diluting the urine and making the apparent concentration of other substances (which were not found at all) to be lower than they actually are. In the end, she just had to fill out a few forms, which she should have done in the first place.
Keyster, I think wrong is wrong whether everybody else is doing it or not. A hundred wrongs don’t make a right.
He was blood doping, which means injections of the hormone erythropoietin (EPO), or auto-transfusion of his previously stored red blood cells. This greatly increases the amount of oxygen in the blood stream, and therefore, endurance. And it doesn’t show up on a drug screen. It can be detected by a separate test developed later, but athletes are already finding ways around it.
And this shows the rottenness at the core of sports – people treating it as something your watch, rather than something you do. All that money came from advertisers, who got it from businesses, who got it from suckers glued to the set to get a vicarious thrill. If people played and enjoyed sports instead of watching it, the doping kerfuffle would disappear overnight. And sportspeople would have to get productive jobs.
Brilliant Cartoon. Other people who doped, Like Pantini, suicided or gave up the sport. Most cyclists, even those who win the tour, are not rich. There has been dope in cycling as long as there has been the tour and probably before, with deaths from doping on the tour.
Lance is smart. He is trying to be like wimmen so he has them on his side. But his ongoing deceit is going to catch up with him.
The association in charge of the Tour should just sh*tcan everybody ever caught for doping. Decimate the sport. All professional sports. As long as people are willing to forgive and idolize their ‘heroes’ even though their supposed physical prowess all comes from an IV needle, it will continue.
Anyone who hates on Lance is a weenie. Everyone in the tour de france dopes, its par for the course. they cycle for hundreds of miles, you cant do that on gatorade and willpower. And yet Lance won it 7 or so times and beat cancer to boot. He is a hero and a shining example of masculinity because dope or no dope he worked his ass off to get those wins, and thats why it didnt feel like cheating.
Well, if you want to believe Hope Solo’s drug test failure wasn’t a case of female privilege that’s fine, but the fact you’d never heard of it suggests otherwise to me. After all, if Lance Armstrong had similarly failed a drug test- do you think you would have heard about it? I’m guessing that most people would have. Do you think people would be saying “Oh, it was just a diuretic.” or focusing on the fact that he failed a drug test?
Given that we re never going to get around doping, and some people having a natural genetic advantage over others, I think we should break sports into two classes. In the open class anything goes and in the restricted class you have to abide by strict rules. Although I am sure that if you did that people would still cheat.
Is it cheating if you naturally have a higher testosterone level than other competitors? If it isn’t then is it really cheating to take testosterone to level the playing field? What happens if you naturally have a higher red blood count than other athletes and you get accused of cheating because of it. At the upper elite level all athletes are genetic freaks on some level or another. Is it fare that Micheal Phelps won so many races with his size 14 feet and hands that are about twice as big as a normal person. For all his training and athletic ability I doubt he would have won all his gold medals without it.
I suppose my point is (and I don’t claim to have any answers) is that doping is not going to go away, so we should learn to live with it, and I am not sure if it is wrong if everyone knows the rules.
The whole story is sooo disgusting (including Oprah). i don’t think Lance ever will understand the weight of what he did. And then- he makes a media show of it… hand in hand with this psychoanalyst bitch.
Armstrong:
Yeah, I cheated. And you all fell for it. Hahaha. Losers!
Woman:
Yeah, I married and divorced you to get your money, and yes, I got those children, because then I could get even more money out of you and the government. Hahahaha… Loser!

The cartoon brings up a good point at how *fem-centric* Armstrong’s attitude about this is: “it didn’t f-e-e-l wrong..”

At least he didn’t go on Jerry Springer.
