The lingerie football league, which drew attention for skimpy outfits and sexy players, has decided to replace all lingerie with “performance wear,” remove sexy female figures on uniforms, and masculinize the players with bigger shoulder pads.
From the league’s announcement:
“This is the next step in the maturation of our now global sport. While the Lingerie Football League name has drawn great media attention allowing us to showcase the sport to millions, we have now reached a crossroad of gaining credibilty as a sport or continuing to be viewed as a gimmick. In the coming years we will further establish this sport in the US, Australia, Europe and Asia as the most known form of American football globally. In order to reach the next milestone, we feel the focus has to be the sport and our amazing athletes”, said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.
LFL re-branding announcement also includes:
-Performance wear replaces all lingerie aspects of uniform.
-New design of logos removing any sexy female figures.
-Redesign of shoulder pads to increase protection.
-Brand tagline shifts from ‘True Fantasy Football’ to ‘Women of the Gridiron’
So, the chairman has decided to drop what made the sport appealing (to some) in the first place. Sure, it’s a bit of a fetish to watch women wrestle, play football and so on, but there are a lot of men out there who enjoy that stuff. Far more, I suspect, than women who enjoy watching other women compete in helmets and shoulder pads at a man’s game.
Maybe Mitchell Mortaza, the founder, thinks he can get a sinecure from the NFL and be set for life as the director of a money-losing league that can never be disbanded because it would be “sexist” to do so. That’s pretty much what the NBA has been stuck with since David Stern hung the albatross of the WNBA around its neck. And speaking of gimmicks, how is it more of a gimmick for women to run around looking sexy than it is for them to play at a man’s game? I thought that’s what women did naturally when given the opportunity. Who’s more of a freak: a female beauty pageant contestant or a female boxer?
I wonder why these guys can’t accept the simple fact that there just aren’t enough lesbians out there to sustain this kind of thing.

Never watched this but it’s a shame it’s getting shit on right after real football.
Simply put, because to admit that would mean admitting that men and women are not the same when it comes to sexual attraction. And that would mean that women and men are not interchangeable.
That undermines a major premise of feminism. And kowtowing to feminism is a prime directive for anyone in the entertainment industry. It’s more important than making a profit, or even staying in business.
@Anonymous Reader
“kowtowing to feminism is a prime directive for anyone in the entertainment industry. It’s more important than making a profit, or even staying in business.” You might add that it is also “more important” than love, happiness, children, sanity or group survival.
OT but this could affect that retard (I would consider anyone who can’t properly pluralize the word “boob” to be retarded) Manboobz’ ability to mine Reddit:
http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/12/3868906/aaron-swartz-dies
Aaron Swartz committed suicide at the age of twenty-six. I hope that as a tribute to Swartz, Manboobz is finally banned from Reddit. It’s Manboobz’ fault that Aaron Swartz was driven to suicide.
The lingerie football thing is a manufactured event with the intent to get your eyeballs in front of a TV so you can watch ads while drinking beer.
This is not a hill that needs defending.
I thought I read that manboobz already got banned from reddit a long time ago. Did he just register a new account or something?
@ Gilgamesh
Manboobz reportedly got reinstated because his followers complained to Reddit.
As for Aaron Swartz, he was a hero who was threatened with a 35-year prison sentence by the DOJ for downloading academic papers off of JSTOR and people’s PACER legal information and then providing both types of documents to anyone who wanted it for free. He probably committed suicide because of all the rape he thought he would have faced in prison. I do not know how inmates would view his offense relative to other offenses when choosing who to sodomize.
Can anyone explain how prison rape is different from the punitive rape of a woman (is that even practiced anywhere besides africa?) besides the obvious “It’s a man,” I mean.
The ancient Greeks had it right. Women could not compete in the Olympics, on pain of death.
Meanwhile, in our time, the London Olympics were the first to allow women to compete in every male sport, including boxing and weightlifting.
OTOH…
(British beach volleyball players Zara Dampney, left, and Shauna Mullin, right, warm up before practicing in London.)
Keep in mind it’s no longer about what the viewer want’s to watch. Look at what television has become. You’re going to sit there and watch the indoctrination you’re fed bacause that’s all that’s being offered. You’re going to believe what you’re told. Get your flu shot’s NOW! Don’t ask questions. Just do it.
“The lingerie football thing is a manufactured event with the intent to get your eyeballs in front of a TV so you can watch ads while drinking beer.”
Why watch this, when there is internet porn? Say what yo like about porn, but it’s exposing hypocrisy left and right.
Yawn…
If these chicks want to be taken seriously as football players all they have to do is earn spots in the NFL. If they make it, they’ll be taken as seriously as the men who play at that level.
Of course there is not the slightest chance that even one of them would even earn a spot at the try-outs. Not saying I would, either – I never had the build required for pro ball even in my youth – but then again I don’t expect people to pay money to watch me prance around a striped field in tights with an inflated pigskin.
Not that I care what they wear – I don’t even have a television and I haven’t watched a sporting event in years. But I can still comment of the “social” aspect of the phenomenon.
Let’s face it: the only reason most guys watch women’s sports at all is because they involve fit young women doing physical things, usually in skimpy outfits. If you want to watch the highest level of play you have to watch men’s leagues. There are only two categories of sports where men compete against women at the elite level: equestrian events and sailing. You might also add mixed-doubles badmitten and tennis, but only because each team is required to have one female – mixed teams do not compete against all-male teams at the elite level.
Most guys like to look at fit young women in skimpy outfits. Duh… (It’s not like you go Hooters for the world-class cuisine, either.) The LFL took that and capitalized on it. You weren’t going to see great play by the best football players in the world – you were going to see fit young women running around and tackling each other in lingerie.
WOMEN IN LINGERIE WAS THE WHOLE POINT – the fact that they were playing football was just a marketing gimmick.
I get it, though. They make money catering to guys (and maybe a few dykes) who like to watch the semi-veiled lesbian erotic images of fit young women in skimpy outfits being physical with each other. Not my cup of tea, but… whatever. But now they want to be thought of as serious – even world-class – athletes(?)
If they want to be taken as seriously as athletes as they are as objects of prurience, they’re going to have to become serious players. In other words, they’ll have to become men.
This is just too funny.
This is so typical. They wear skimpy outfits and lingerie until the men develop a habit of watching them. Then they ditch the lingerie for heavy duty ‘performance wear’ and flannel. When asked, they claim that the lingerie was just a phase they were going through, and they’ve out grown it, so just forget about it.
The Denver Bronocs should be their latest expansion franchise.
The LPGA has suffered greatly from being over-run by Asian dykes. They don’t have a full schedule. Many weeks nothing happens at all. There’s still Paula Creamer who’s kinda cute and of course SlutWalker Natalie Gulbis, who even if she’s in last place has a larger following than the leaders. The Asian dykes are better golfers, but no one cares. They’re ugly and boring and many of them don’t even speak english.
No one wants to see women being tough macho competitors in sports or likewise in the work place. Women behaving like men is no more appealing than men behaving like women, unless of course you’re gay. Can you imagine how successful a male beauty pagent would be?
I don’t see what the issue is.
If it bothers you, flip the channel. Who does it hurt to let the ladies play in the gear they want to, rather than in their underwear? I’m sure that any viewers who only watched for the nearly-nude spectacle can find plenty of other material involving scantily clad women, it’s not exactly going out of style (to say the least).
All I’m sayin’ is, this whining about women’s sports seems petty, if not borderline bitter. Yeah, yeah, nobody actually likes women’s sports except for lesbians, those dummies are just trying to be men anyway, why can’t they just sit down and stop trying to be what they’re not, blah blah blah.
Meanwhile, I’m willing to bet that you’re no more thrilled with reality shows featuring women like Snooki, Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, etc. Women who are famous for looking good, being wealthy, and acting like drunken club-going morons. The drunker and sluttier they get, the better.
My point is, if forced to choose between the women playing sports, being active, and the women on trashy reality shows, who would you prefer your daughter be watching?
I get it. Women’s sports are stupid, boring, and a pale shadow to the real athletics performed by men. But if their existence encourages even one girl to grow up to be active and healthy, rather than a vapid, materialistic whore or a blubbery couch potato who doesn’t know how to exercise (or both–sadly, it happens), well, that doesn’t seem like the worst thing in the world to me.
@ Persnickity,
You’re reading too much into this. I doubt anybody here cares one whit about the LFL – it’s the social aspect of the announcement that we’re commenting on. The LFL has been around for years and, as far as I know, nobody has even mentioned it before now. It is this announcement that is new, and it is what the announcement implies that has triggered our scorn: lingerie models want to be considered to be elite athletes based on nothing more than the fact that they gained a following of men who like to watch cuties in skimpy outfits pretending to be elite athletes.
Cuties in skimpy outfits =/= elite athletes.
They want the accolades that a tiny number of men achieve by being gifted and working their butts off for years – but the want those accolades without doing what it takes to earn them.
Feminism in a nutshell.
It would be analogous to the pretty actresses who play soldiers in movies announcing that they expected to receive ACTUAL military decorations for valor.
I don’t see what the issue is.
They’re re-positioning a novelty brand as a serious sports franchise.
It’s a joke, as in funny ha ha.
Get it?
Kinda like the WWF proclaiming they’re going to wrestle for real.
@ Persnickety
Unfortunately, Title (N)IX has gotten out of control.
Studies suggest that when children are allowed to play whatever sport they want to play, without stigmatizing or ridiculing any child’s choice, substantially more boys will want to play any sport than girls will want to play any sport. Title (N)IX has the effect of EVICTING young men from sports programs based on the fiction that the ratio of boys who want to play any sport (without stigma/ridicule) to girls who want to play any sport (again, without stigma or ridicule) is 1:1.
Title (N)IX does not have a counterpart that mandates gender equality in the arts that would have the impact of evicting girls (who would be more likely to want to pursue visual or performing arts than boys, even when there is no stigma or ridicule attached to anyone’s choice) from visual or performing arts programs.
Ugly, horrid female transvestism as far as I am concerned. I don’t see women hankering for the male version as their ideal man, rather the opposite, as in “where are all the real men?”
So you can forget it ladies.
All it does is cement that women are to be avoided at all costs. Worse, I don’t know any woman at all that would even begin to understand what I am talking about.
This appalling situation affects how I feel about all women at all times.
No means no.
Watch? Nothing on the planet would make me watch.
So this is simply just female football. meh… just another female sport not worth watching. If I want to see women pretending to be men I’ll just go to work.
This is so typical with the TnA biz and Team Vagina – get less, pay more.
“But if their existence encourages even one girl to grow up to be active and healthy, rather than a vapid, materialistic whore ”
why the difference? when maria sharapova lauds the equality that gets her equal prize money at grand slams, is she not being the latter, though admittedly she also is the former.
“My point is, if forced to choose between the women playing sports, being active, and the women on trashy reality shows, who would you prefer your daughter be watching?”
LOL the daughter defense(a hint, it’s been done to death and a major reason why we are here, a good scientific paper proves it! raquel fernandez 09) and LOL at the false dichotomy. Sure the girls on trashy reality shows won’t be injecting themselves with steroids(but then who knows,
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/20/sports/20iht-doping20.10225773.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0), but what makes you think that active girls who play sports can’t be trashy women on reality shows(for e.g. – Hope Solo and her thug bf), and the trashy reality show women can’t be active, they have to maintain their figure after all. Those bums can’t be wished into existence!
“But if their existence encourages even one girl to grow up to be active and healthy”
and to pursue her dreams she has to battle the patriarchy in school and the attitudes of ‘girls can’t play sports!”, while your son gets title ix’ed, not that cute now, is it?
@Persnickety
Personally, I’ve never cared for lingerie football — not my thing. I’ve never seen a game, or even part of a game. However, I’m well aware that it appeals to a lot of men, who are the primary audience. It is profitable because of these men.
It is a sexual fetish league. That’s it. No better or worse than the Kardashians et al. BTW, doesn’t Kim Kardashian work out a lot, too? Don’t these skanks on TV constantly worry about their health and figure? What’s the difference between them and the lingerie football players there? I’ll tell you: the Kardiashians’ main audience is other women, who are fascinated by them. This is an enormous market. Straight women don’t care about the football women. Not at all.
However, there is one group besides men that likes the football women: lesbians. Lesbians are between .5% and 1% of the US population. Yet we subsidize the WNBA for them. It is a money-losing league that is paid for by men who like real basketball.
The lingerie football people want the same gig. They want to take something that is profitable, and that some men like watching, and make it into something that loses money and only lesbians like watching. However, the lesbians will arrange it so that the men have to keep paying for it, because that’s what lesbians do — they are parasitic that way. The owner of the league is trying to create a sinecure, counting on the fact that people will not cancel it because that would be sexist.
That’s what bothers me about it. It’s just another example of radical feminists and their scummy male enablers leeching off men.
Why?
They have had standard female professional football leagues for years. Now they are just adding another to this non-profitable sport.
FYI – Lingerie Football is/was Pay Per View Only.
He’s shifting to a more politically correct version to legitimize it, thus attracting actual sponsors and perhaps the Spike channel will pick it up or ESPN 8 “the Ocho!” – – or even NFL interest. Corporate advertising dollars is where the big bucks are. He may have been advised to take this direction – away from the sexual objectification schtick and towards the masculinization that’s much more accepted and trendy.
Just thought I’d throw this out there since I know 2 of the chicks on the Baltimore team and I can say from first hand experience:
The women drawn to the league are high-T to say the least. Ditto the women who play on the roller derby team who some of them played for as well. These women are seriously lacking in femininity for the most part, which is the grand irony considering the league’s appeal in the first place, that they’re supposed to be spectacles of T&A. The reality is they’re a lot of man-jawed muscled up wannabe men with tits. More than a few of them are bi/lesbian as well, which should be no surprise there. Don’t get me wrong, a couple of them are bonerfide hotties, but for the most part they’re beer swilling muscleheads with lots of aggression and an inferiority complex.
As far as the Kardashians, I think you’re right and wrong. To be honest, I’ve never sat down and watched the show, so I lack perspective. Sadly, I’ve seen ten to fifteen minutes of Jersey Shore, so I figure it’s all relatively similar content. I think it’s fair to say that women on those types of shows worry about their figures, but their health? C’mon. I can’t speak for the Kardashians, but Snooki, Paris Hilton, and so on are known to consume large amounts of alcohol and drugs. They might go to the gym to stay fit, but they seem to be better known for cutting deals with weight loss drug companies and plugging those products. They may stay slim, but they are not examples of living healthy.
Naturally, straight women have not gone for lingerie football, because, as you’ve said, it’s fetish-oriented. By removing the sexualized content, how does that further the interests of lesbians? Seems counter-productive, to seek to cover up the sexy women they’re supposed to be attracted to.
I’m willing to guess that the trajectory of non-lingerie female football will be similar to that of the WNBA, with few followers. But I’m also fairly sure that more straight women will watch it than would have watched the lingerie league. Probably hardly a significant number. But a few. It’s not like I’ve never met people who follow WNBA, though I do rarely come across them.
How can anyone discuss “the masculinization” of a “womans” league, and not realise what it is that people respect about women.
Here is a clue – it is not masculinity.
Nature’s penalty will be applied. Being shunned is one of a social creature’s most harrowing, and life shortening events. Unfortunately, as we are seeing in our own times, it is now being applied far and wide , as many younger and younger women can attest. The people who should be most angry about this are other (straight) women. Each time this crap is allowed to happen by them, their own chance of progeny declines but apparently they are too stupid to understand how it all works.
Or in this case, doesn’t.
No baby for you – can I be any clearer than that?
Is there ANYTHING that those horrid harridan hags can’t and won’t ruin? There is finally a ladies football that is entertaining and engaging, even to fans of REAL football, and these questionable, if not actually defective “women” have to ruin it, in the name of “equality”, just for spite!
Not since women sports “reporters” were allowed to do post-game interviews in the locker rooms have men faced a humiliation like this!
Those who are still interested may want to organize boycotts of advertisers who sponsor ersatz feminist “football?”. At least it will highlight the utility of such women as sex objects and show that nobody is fooled by this travesty.
Lingerie football is to actual football what a cute, fluffy little poodle would be to a killer pit bull!
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
@ Persnickety

This small rise of straight women audience will not compensate the big loss of the straight men audience.
Who the hell has time to watch sports any more? I have no time to watch a bunch of women play second-rate football in their underwear. I have work to do. And if I’m not working I have a kid to look after. And if I’m not looking after the kid I have to sleep. Sports is a luxury our father s and grandfathers could enjoy. Leisure is dead.
“This small rise of straight women audience will not compensate the big loss of the straight men audience.”
Being that the lingerie football has been described by the OP as somewhat of a distinct fetish that only appeals to a certain kind of man, this does not sound to me like a significant audience loss. Furthermore, there is not exactly a dearth of viewing material in that sort of genre (women doing foolish things while scantily dressed, if clothed at all). At any rate, I don’t think anyone is changing the context of the show in order to take away from straight men and give to women (straight or gay). It just doesn’t sound like a rational line of thinking.
