As a commenter pointed out yesterday, a number of women have become interested in men’s issues recently. One in particular, who goes by “girlwriteswhat”, is pretty articulate, and seems to have a good understanding of why some men are as upset as they are. Her video is a refreshing departure from the usual “man up” refrain coupled with the “male privilege” lie, so I’ll embed it here for viewers who have the time (it’s almost 20 minutes):
I think she gets it mostly right, however she should take into account that different men have different styles, so while some may sound shrill and profane, others who are just as fed up may communicate in a different manner. However, because it takes all sorts, it’s good to see that some people are beginning to understand why there is this level of anger out there amongst a growing segment of the male population.
I found a number of responses from young females to girlwriteswhat’s video. Some support her, others do not. It surprised me a bit to see this level of interest in men’s issues amongst young females, but that’s probably because as I get older I pay even less attention to their opinions than I used to.
