The Movement to Disbar Mary N. Kellett

by Paul Elam on March 29, 2011

[Special note: I urge and implore all bloggers, anywhere on the internet, to reprint this article in its entirety with a link back to this page. Please help me get this event in front of as many eyes as possible. Thank you – PE]

There are often times that we shake our heads at injustices in the world. Sometimes it seems to be all we can do.  And with so many problems in modern life, and their often systemic, intractable nature, it can be difficult to choose what battles to fight and when.  Because of this we have increasingly become a nation of head shakers, concerned about an array of injustices but often not knowing where to turn or what to do to solve them.

With that in mind we have an opportunity, right here and now, to face down and fight against a terrible injustice, an absolute evil, going on in the state of Maine.

Vladek Filler is about to face trial for a second time on the charge of raping his wife, Ligia.  He was brought to trial the first time by Bar Harbor prosecutor Mary N. Kellett, who has sought to imprison Mr. Filler despite the fact that she knows that there is no physical evidence that he ever committed a crime, and despite the fact that his accuser Ligia Filler, has proven to be a violent criminal, a liar who has been caught in false allegations against her husband, and a physical and emotional abuser of her husband and children with a history of severe psychiatric problems.

Ligia Filler has been referred to as “certifiable” by sheriff’s department personnel who she repeatedly threatened to kill.

Mary Kellett’s professional conduct in this case breeches virtually all canons of legal ethics where it concerns prosecutors, from intentionally misleading jurors to avoiding pretrial discovery to actually asking a law enforcement officer to refuse to comply with a valid subpoena in order to help her conceal exculpatory evidence.

All of this, and many other similar cases, have been conducted under the supervision of Bar Harbor, Maine, District Attorney Carletta Bassano, leading to the almost unavoidable conclusion that the problem is not just one rogue prosecutor, but one in which District Attorney Bassano is an enabling accomplice.

Additionally, all of these events have transpired without so much as raising an eyebrow in local news media.

Given the complicity of her supervisor and the lack of attention by local media, Kellet appears emboldened to continue this reign of terror on the life of Vladek Filler, his children, and other innocents who reside in the community Kellett is supposed to protect.

After having Filler’s first conviction overturned due to prosecutorial misconduct by the Maine Supreme Court, she is coming after him again, putting him through another trial on the same slipshod evidence.

Kellett is not pursuing justice; she is making a mockery of it in ways that border on criminality.  She is out of control and no one with authority over her is doing anything about it.

And given the hubris demonstrated by her actions, it is clear she feels free to proceed with impunity.

We cannot, must not, allow this to happen.

This is a battle worth choosing to fight, and A Voice for Men is not the only place that is happening.  Glenn Sacks at Father’s and Families, the nation’s leader in father’s rights advocacy is speaking out about this story.  You can also read about it at The False Rape Society. This article will also  be running at the-spearhead.com, with thanks to our good friend Mr. W.F. Price.

The organization Stop Abusive and Violent Environments(S.A.V.E.) has taken the even more significant action, sending a Complaint for the Disbarment of Prosecutor Mary Kellett to the Maine Board of Overseers for the Bar.

They have also authored a letter to Paul LePage, the Governor of Maine, referencing the disbarment complaint and making an appeal for an intervention on Mary Kellett on behalf of Vladek Filler and the people of Maine.

And you can do your part.

Write Governor LePage here and respectfully insist on an investigation to the practices of Mary N. Kellett. The message can be as simple as. “For the sake of justice, please assure that Mary Kellett is relieved of her prosecutorial duties and disbarred from the practice of law.”

Write the Board of overseers for the Bar here, and insist that they respond to the allegations against Kellett with an investigation.

Lastly, try to get the media involved.  Bill Trotter does crime reporting for the Bangor Daily News.  You can write email him at btrotter@bangordailynews.com or phone him at 207-460-6318 and ask him to consider investigating this story.

Don’t wait for others to do this, please, or think that just one person calling and writing is enough. That would be a fatal mistake.

When you have done one or all the suggestions listed here, please come back to this thread and simply put the word “done” in the comments, wherever you are reading this.

What is happening in Maine is only a microcosm of what is happening across the western world. So regardless of where you live, your insistent message to one or all of these people can help force them to consider looking in to Kellett’s activities. And make no mistake about it, Kellett’s actions, if unchecked, are a forecast of own future. We know this is a witch hunt, but because most are ignoring it, it will spread.  If we take this silently, we have lost in the most tragic and disgraceful of ways.

This is a fight worth fighting, people. If you are reading this, you could be another Vladek Filler, or someone who cares about him. Your children could be hurt the same way his children have And your freedom, even if seemingly secure today, cannot be assured for tomorrow. As long as the likes of Mary Kellett are allowed to practice predatory prosecutions against innocent human beings no one is safe.

And If she is allowed to build a career on doing this, there will be nothing to stop the same from happening where you live.

It is your future, and your move.

[Addendum: A Voice for Men Radio is doing a one hour special on this tonight, March 29, 2011 at 9:00 p.m. EST. You can listen to the show live here, or the archives are always available in the sidebar at avoiceformen.com.]

It is my experience as an Attorney that female prosecutors tend to have a hatred of males and husbands. Whether their hatred blinds them to the weakness of their case or whether their grasp of evidence is so poor such that they fail to see that they will lose, I cannot say.

What I can say is that generally, when a woman has an idea, it becomes true because it is in her head. Phantasm and reality are one.

Let us hope that (if it comes to it) the Jury in Maine have sense and that the Maine Bar (or the State) take the appropriate action.

Mary N. Kellett is feminist anti-male hatred run amok.

Disbarring her will prevent untold damage to men, children, and families. I agree with Paul, this is a high priority mission for the MRM. People in position of government power who have a feminist agenda of spreading anti-male hatred need to be stoped.

NB — CAPITAL LETTERS HERE FOLKS!!!

I called the office of the governor and was told that the governor’s office does not oversee district attorneys, who are directly elected. I was told to contact Mary Kellett’s supervisor, Carletta Bassano at DA7.org and to also contact the Maine Board of Overseers at mebaroverseers.org.

I also emailed Bill Trotter and suggested that he make an investigative report on this matter.

It is on account of the degradation of the character and the morals of an entire people to the gutter politics of gender, that a Mary N. Kellett and a Marianne Ny [prosecuting Julian Assange] are allowed to continue their respectable work with dignity, seeming honour and official approval.

It is no different with these latter day ghouls of modern burreaucracy than it was with for example, other respectable white collar murderers of history. The Third Reichs Roland Freisler, President of the Peoples Court, or say the Soviet Unions NKVD chief persecutor, Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria come to mind.

The following crosslink to AngryHarrys Golden Rule, also mentioning prosecuting attorney Mary N. Kellet, adresses the matter better.

It is not possible for a person to be an ethical prosecutor and a feminist at the same time. After this scumbag is removed from office we should go after Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley. She was instrumental in keeping an innocent man Gerald Amirault in prison on child molestation charges that she knew he did not commit.Fortunately she lost her senate race but it is an outrage that she is allowed to remain the chief law enforcement officer of that state.

DONE! I had my letter to Maine’s Governor posted on Congress.org’s public letters section as well as going to the governor. I am glad to see we are finally in a real fight with a real issue of importance to men everywhere.

As a lawyer myself, I get a kick out of the idea of a large group of random citizens inundating a state bar with complaints about a worthless and abusive attorney. I have not seen public protests affect legal proceedings in criminal matters before, but regardless, it is outstanding to see the MRM stand up openly in some way! Piss on walking around on eggshells for women and bowing to their never-ending demands.

Idiocy and others: Stop with the e-mails, that’s like throwing a postcard over a wall. Send a certified letter to the Governor and the Attorney General etc that someone is actually going to have to sign for. Then send a copy of the letter and proof of delivery to all members of the press and anyone else you see fit.
@idiocy- the Aides working in the governor’s office are usually unpaid volunteers who know nothing so don’t waste your time even talking to these fools or asking them questions because you look like a fool even asking these low ranking workers a question. You should know what you’re doing and where a complaint should be filed where it can’t be ignored. Most States have what is called the Advissory Committee to the Supreme Court if that’s the highest court in the state (in NY the highest court is the Court of Appeals not to be confused with the appellate division of the Supreme Court which is the county court in NY and just above municipal court and of course has an appellate division). There is also the State Bar and the State licensing division and you can file a complaint here too. And remember what I said about e-mails which no one even reads. If you’re not going to make the effort to send a certified letter then at least send a fax.

Dear Mr Trotter,

It has come to the public attention that Prosecutor Mary N Kellett of Bar Harbor has been handling rape accusations/trials with the same zeal and regard for actual evidence displayed by Mike Nifong in his unethical, self-serving pursuit of the Duke LaCrosse players.

Of late, Ms Kellett is pursuing, for the second time, one Vladek Filler- whose wife has accused him of rape. Mrs Filler is a known violent criminal, who has gone so far as to threaten local law enforcement personnel.

It’s just my opinion, Mr. Trotter, but it behooves you to look into this. There are many concerned citizens, nationwide, who have placed Bar Harbor under a magnifying lens – waiting to see if this rogue prosecutor is dealt with.

Please be there.

I also sent a note to the overseers.

I am posting my bit to the Board of Overseers to help others formulate their responses as well:
To Whom It May Concern, <—- I probably should have used a better salutation!

I have recently read about Mary Kellett's actions in regard to her prosecution of rape allegations against Vladek Filler made by his ex wife. To be sure, we cannot always take what we read at face value. However, if even just a few of Ms. Kellett's actions described in these articles are true, then what follows from those actions can only be described as a travesty of justice or, more plainly, a deeply cynical perversion of the law and its institutions. I therefore respectfully request that this Board of Overseers of the Bar investigate and consider relieving Mary Kellett of her prosecutorial duties and disbarred from the practice of law.

Respectfully,

Dear Ms. Bassano,

I have recently read several articles regarding the case against Vladek Filler. I am shocked to read of Ms. Kellett’s behavior in the course of her carrying out her prosecutorial obligations. Without a doubt, we can not always believe what we read however, multiple articles citing many actions lead me to believe that there is enough truth evident to cause me concern that perhaps Ms. Kellett has lost sight of her role in this case and is instead waging a personal attack. To consider that this is happening under the watchful eye of her supervisors and within the environment of one of this country’s most important institutions is deeply troubling. Ms. Bassano, I implore you, please review this case and Ms. Kellett’s actions within it.

Respectfully,

Dear Governor LaPage,

As a follower of men’s rights issues I have become aware, from multiple sources, of the unjust and cowardly conduct of Maine prosecutor Mary Kellert in regards to her relentless persecution of VladeK Filler.

To say that Ms. Kellert’s conduct, as it has been related in the articles I’ve read, is treasonous would be an understatement. At the urging of one of these men’s rights organizations I am writing to as, that an investigation into this matter be opened immediately.

The organizations from which I have obtained my information ask that the outcome of such an investigation be disbarment. I for one do not think that is sufficient and under the circumstances the most lenient outcome should be jail time for Ms. Kellert – an even better solution would be the constitutionally proscribed punishment for treason.

Let us hope that (if it comes to it) the Jury in Maine have sense and that the Maine Bar (or the State) take the appropriate action.

On this side of the pond state bar associations are funded and run by attorneys for attorneys. They will whitewash all but the most outrageous and blatant violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct. I have a bar complaint that has gone to the state supreme court and vanished for over three years now – funny thing is the atty against whom the complaint was made is the father of the sitting chief justice. Anti Idiocy – ”I asked specifically if the state attorney general was the authority to contact and the governor’s office told me, “No.””

I don’t have a copy of Maine’s State Constitution or Laws, but it is typical for a STATES Attorney General to be charged with oversight of individual judicial districts, including investigating and prosecuting instances of prosecutorial misconduct.

You might recall that it was North Carolina Attorney General Roy A. Cooper who took over the investigation against DA Michael Nifong due to his misconduct in the malicious prosecution of the Duke LaCrosse players?

I think I’d be suspicious of a some receptionist at the governors office telling me that the states Attorney General was not the authority to contact in a cases of seeming prosecutorial misconduct/malicious prosecution.

Just one of the dirty little secrets is that federal VAWA funding to states is based on the number domestic violence cases. So if you’re a DA that needs to keep the dollars rolling in, you’ll drum up any and all DV cases you can, including psychotic wives that claim their husbands raped them.

Listen to the excellent guests that were on AVfM Radio last night. They’ll give you insights into how the game is being played.

And how do they get away with it?
Well, if you’re against VAWA you must be FOR violence against women.
Clever!

Keyster – “Listen to the excellent guests that were on AVfM Radio last night.”

Perhaps you can clarify something for me. Did I understand Mr. Bartlett as saying that ~$25 million dollars was being given to the state of Maine for the purposes of prosecuting crimes against women under Section 101 of the Violence Against Woman Act?

If you check out the latest reauthorization (www.ncadv.org/files/VAWA2005Summary.pdf), it authorizes a total of $56.25 Million per annum for all States, US Territories, and American Indian Tribes for the purposes related to prosecutions.

Are we to believe that one state, Maine, one of the least populated states, as well as one of the safest (48th in terms of crime – http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0922223.html) is getting nearly 40% of the total Federal funding for prosecutions?

The show was great, BTW. However, I think way too much is made of this idea that there is a bunch of Federal money driving police and prosecutors to “create” more cases. Compared to actual District Attorneys Office Budgets, and the actual costs of prosecuting cases, the amount available via VAWA is a pittance, which would hardly be worth trying to increase case loads in the hope of getting a piece of the pie (money is awarded via a competitive grant process).

in fact, as I see it, the amount of money provided to all of Law Enforcement is simply “window dressing” compared to the money made available to victims and victims advocates. There was a lot of “fan-fare’ associated with the funding of Law Enforcement in VAWA; however, IMHO, that was just to “sell” the Act to “law and order” conservatives. The true financial intent behind VAWA is the transfer of money to women, in particular. That’s why most of it goes to those supposedly helping the “victims”, organizations dominated by women.

Hi Paul,

“breeches virtually all canons of legal ethics”

Lawyers don’t have ethics and there is no such thing as legal ethics. So she can’t breech them. Lawyers lie when they say they have ethics. They don’t.

@ALL.
Just on Friday we had another glorious victory in the free man area. An area that MRAs/MRMs have studiously avoided talking to these last two years. A man went into court in Ireland and asked the judge a simple question:

“Are you addressing me?”

The courts operate in Uniform Commercial Code and therefore a judge can not address a human being, they can only address a ‘person’, which is a trademark. The judge tried to fool the man into admitting he was a ‘person’. He simply asked one more time “Are you addressing me?”

At this point the female judge panicked and fled the court room. (abandoned ship). The reason being that she realised she was not going to be able to establish jurisdiction by deceit. The man walked out.

You do not need to disbar this woman. You do not need to do anything more than educate yourselves. But MRAs/MRMs studiously refuse to educate yourselves. Instead you submit to your slavery by engaging in the ‘legal system’ which Robert Hay has proven beyond all doubt is a satanic commercial system of extortion.

The man who came up with this question has been studying this stuff for years now. We have bounced ideas off each other for over a year. And what a simple answer he came up with. “Are you addressing me?” That one simple question shuts down the court. It’s over. A judge/magistrate can NOT address a human being in a UCC court. They KNOW this.

Once more for those who refuse to educate themselves. The PDF of the book written through me is out. The link has been posted. I’ve also emailed it Welmer to propagate as he pleases. In the English speaking world? No man need pay alimony or child support. No man need be accused without an affidavit signed under penalty of perjury. No man need suffer false accusers. No man need be subject to any legislation. You do it all VOLUNTARILY. I no longer volunteer to be a slave. I recommend you don’t either.

Once again? Here is the Lawful Notice to all police officers in Australia to tell them that they will be held accountable for their crimes. If any man here who lives in the US had bothered to educate himself he might issue a similar lawful notice. Because as sure as hell most men in the free man area don’t give a shit about fathers. They are something of a disappointment to me. They use this stuff to not pay mortgages but they won’t use it to save a mans life.

OT: I don’t know how much longer I will have access to the internet as I’m being ordered to seek another place to live and another job. About three weeks ago a threatening note was left on my twin brother’s vehicle. According to my friend Darlene, the handwriting is that of Sandi Delk. I didn’t bother calling the police as I know what they would have said: “Sorry, there’s nothing we can do about it.”

I took the note to my Commander and First Sergeant. For those who do not remember or know who this Sandi Delk character is: she is the woman that falsely accused me of waving a gun at her and her ilk. I will try to get internet service when I can. I hope this site will still be here.

Just called Bill Trotter, he says he’s received 40 emails about the case and is working on a piece right now. He referred to the case by the name of the defendant though, so I’m not sure if he’s going to focus on the prosecutor’s misconduct.

Just got a response from the Overseers Board:
Thank you for your email to the Board of Overseers of the Bar. Bar Counsel investigates all complaints of attorney misconduct submitted in accordance with Maine Rule 7.1(a). Should you wish to learn how grievance matters are processed by the Board, I invite you to visit the Board’s website at http://www.mebaroverseer.org.

While radio and Television are, as a rule, even more biased against men, traditional women, and their families than the feminists infesting legal practice in the State machinery, it might not hurt to also inform newsmedia in Maine about this appalling injustice, especially where they are active in and around Maine’s major population centers like Bangor, Portland, Augusta, and similar cities. Even feminists are concerned about their public image, especially when they hold elective office!

We might even be surprised there with someone, perhaps a reporter or editor who had a bad experience with these feminazi bureau(c)rats about something entirely different.

It may be something of a longshot, because the newsmedia as a whole are often as outrageously biased against men and men’s rights as politicians, but it might not hurt to inform Maine’s media outlests (TV, radio, and local newspapers) of this appalling injustice, and the feminist machinery abusing the State prosecutors offices and courts to perpetuate it.

It is at least possible that there is an editor, reporter, or photographer somewhere who was abused by those people (probably on an unrelated matter) and would welcome a chance at payback, especially since politicians (and feminazis) are always keenly aware of their public image and regard public support from voters as so important! Even if they don’t agree with us on this particular issue, it is certainly likely that there have been quite a few other abuses by the likes of Ms. Kallek and Ms. Bassano which could be used to prompt more looking into by both concerned citizens (us) and the fourth estate.

This is also admittedly a longshot, but informing victims, and would be victims of techniques of the common law resistance as advocated quite frequently–and self confindently–by Peter-Andrew:Nolan in these pages may also be worth a try!

At the very least, you (as a defendent/victim) in their “court” system, are no WORSE off than you were before, which is up s**t creek without a paddle!

Gentlemen,

I am a first time poster, long time reader of Roissy, this site, Voice for Men and lately Dalrock, all beautiful stuff.

My letter to Maine:

Dear Sir or Madam Governor,

As a Western Canadian I know absolutely nothing about Maine, except possibly, what Stephen King has written for the last 30 yrs. It really does sound like a wonderful place.

Admittedly, this is none of my concern, as I’m a long way from Maine and her jurisdictions. But this Asst. DA Mary Kellett/Vladek Filler issue sounds really bad, even if only partially true. I was shocked from what little I recently learned regarding the ongoing case. I sincerely hope you or your people can get to the bottom of it all and ensure justice is being fairly dispensed. Sounds like the guy may have been nifonged. And maybe not the first? Either way, very bad PR is sure to ensue, check Duke Lx scandal.

With Very Best Regards,

xxxxx

Gentlemen,

We can do better than the response that this request for action has gotten so far. I see the names of many more Spearhead contributors commenting on other articles, without addressing this matter. False rape claims and gender-based prosecutorial misconduct are important and reasonable men’s rights causes for which you have been offered a blueprint for action. Even you guys who support MGTOW and ghosting have to see this as something potentially affecting everyone of you. Please participate in this call to action.
