Old Men more Likely to Have Sex than Old Women

by Welmer on March 10, 2010

According to Time, a pending British Medical Journal article finds that even past retirement, most men are sexually active, while the same is not true for women of that age. Even among men between 75 and 85, over a third are still having sex.

Researcher Patricia Goodson, working at Texas A&M, is attempting to figure out why older women do not see this as a problem, probably because feminists are becoming concerned about the geriatric sex gap.

We will likely see efforts by old feminists such as Pepper Schwartz and Gloria Steinem to address the geriatric sex gap by encouraging old women to have sex even if they don’t really want to. If that doesn’t work, one can imagine a public campaign to stop old men from having sex, possibly accompanied by legislation.
