Stopping Male Genital Mutilation

by Jay Hammers on February 27, 2010

I’m circumcised and fortunate not to have had any serious lasting complications from it. Of course, like many other males lacking their foreskin I have reduced sexual sensitivity and if my Johnson gets in a pickle he’s more likely to end up chafed.

However, those are the least of the negative effects resulting from cutting off protective, nerve-rich flesh from one’s genitals. Complications and even death can result during circumcision surgery. Some of these complications can cause problems into adulthood, even resulting in painful – and smaller – erections.

If I father a boy he won’t be circumcised. There is no medical reason for routine circumcision of baby boys. Circumcision creates new risks, it does not prevent HIV or other diseases, and cleaning the foreskin is easy. I’m not going to circumcise my son for the sake of some American trollops who have been led to believe a mutilated penis is more aesthetically pleasing than a natural one. Would you circumcise your son so that when he’s older he can “last longer” for selfish little girls produced by the feminized Western world?

I received an e-mail from Intact America, an anti-circumcision organization whose mailing list subscribe to:

On March 2, the Massachusetts State Senate will consider the Male Genital Mutilation Bill, legislation that would outlaw the genital mutilation of both young girls AND boys in Massachusetts.

We urgently need your help to show Massachusetts legislators why passing this bill is the right thing to do.

Submit your own personal story about why you oppose circumcision before March 2 – and we’ll make sure your testimony is heard by the Massachusetts State Senate Joint Committee.

I would urge you to consider sharing your own story to help stop this barbaric practice. Massachusetts could set a precedent for the rest of the United States to follow.
