Grandmothers for Abortion

by Welmer on February 3, 2010

The obvious question here is what does abortion matter to these menopausal crones? Also, if they’d aborted all their children, could they call themselves “grandmothers?”

Whatever the case, this is what feminism is increasingly starting to look like: old, decrepit and vulgar.

That is kind of sad. So pathetic.

Maybe it is also a reflection on our society. There was a time women (and men too) of that age would have considered singing about “Corporate Bullshit” undignified (if they even thought about such a childish act at all).

Attention seeking childishness, barely worthy of all their grandchildren that their not aborted daughters did not abort.

You would never catch Orthodox Jews spouting that kind of crap. Just wanted to point out there is “Jewish” and then there is Jewish, if you know what I mean. I bet the other women are Catholics but they’re not Catholics.

The problem with those women is that they’re Godless (obviously).

Black&German February 3, 2010 at 13:42

Like Nanci Pelosi is “Catholic”. In name only.

Here in the NW it is generally women of mainline Protestant ancestry (not practicing) who are the most fanatical feminists, but then again Mary Daly was an Irish Catholic. Lots of Catholic nuns are closet butch feminists as well — even today.

Black&German February 3, 2010 at 13:56

It’s not just that they’re Godless; they’ve given up not only their religion but the morality that went along with it.

Yeah, some of the nuns are so nuts it’s a complete embarrassment to the Church. The Pope had to give some of the ones in New York a papal smack-down last month.

The only place where you’re going to see actual nuns are in traditional Catholic (pre-Vatican II adherent) church communities. Nuns who are in the post-Vatican II world do not wear a habit, have a penchant for wearing pantsuits and have gray, short cropped hair.

Re: Black&German–no, you won’t see Orthodox Jews in that commercial because they don’t consider Reform Jews (most likely the ones in the credit scroll) Jewish. Yes, there are many prominent Catholics who are wimminoids, but these are the ones who more or less continue to buy into Democratic agitprop (especially the Irish, who unfortunately constitute a great many dyed-in-the-wool mentality to this day).

It’s all very convenient for them really. They do not have to suffer any of the consequences of abortion. The babies suffer loss of life in an horrific way. The father suffers grief that he is not allowed to express. The mother suffers from post-abortion syndrome and possibly health complications. These women don’t fit into any of these catagories!

z February 3, 2010 at 17:20

Ann Fonfa, Carole Fields, Evie Shobin, Gloria Stein, Marijo Beckman, Molly Leban, Stephanie Levine, Sue Nestel, Vera Fried, Vicki Ryder

Those are the old women’s names. They are members of a group called “The Raging Grannies” (of south Florida).

I bet every one of these women is an activist in gender feminist causes, and pursue the implementation of a full-blown matriarchy here in the United States. I bet if you guys spend some time with google (or bing, or ‘alltheweb’) you would be able to find out that these women are members of several extreme leftist organizations. Politics replaces religion for some people. It doesn’t seem likely that any of them would be a member of a religious organization, but you never know…….there may be a gaian or a wiccan in there.

Note: New favorite expletive phrase: “Gaia-phuckin’-dammit”.
Its fun to take the hippie’s god’s name in vain. : )

z February 3, 2010 at 17:51

That is the history of the organization. It started in Canada in the late 80s. Its pretty hysterical. They are mostly harmless ex-hippies, just as I thought. The “gaggle” that you seen in the video were members of the South Florida branch.

As long as they are non-violent. The make good comic fodder, even I have to admit that——the song about “canadian beaver” or whatever as pretty funny too. More moonbat lefty’s. They -do-provide free comedy.

Abortion is less disgusting in my mind then people who spawn children who have no ability to provide for them, and do not allow these children to be adopted to parents who can provide and care for them.

In my mind I’d rather crack whores abort then give them another few hundred dollars in food stamps to neglect their babies, who grow up to be another generation of crack whores and gang bangers.

It’s a practical lesser of two evils.

Problem is many pro-life people are pro-life without any follow through. ie: what do we do with children that are not wanted, what do we do with children who parents cannot afford them, what do we as a society do with abusive parents, what do we afford as a society do regarding orphanages once the adoptive parents run out.

These to me are real questions that the pro-life movement does not address, though I do consider myself to be pro-life. These are also questions that the pro-choice movement does not consider. They focus on the rare incest or rape victim, not the real life realities of being able to raise a child without sucking out of the teat of the government breast.

I’ve yet to find anyone from either movement who is practical. Practical is people have sex, sex makes babies, what do we do with these babies when the parents are not in a position in their lives to be able to take care of them and support them financially.

fedrz February 3, 2010 at 21:41

Really?

Mass murder is the lesser of two evils?

70 years ago you could have applied for a job stoking ovens.

David February 3, 2010 at 21:50

“what do we afford as a society do regarding orphanages once the adoptive parents run out.”

David: Oh, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit! Are you serious? There are no orphanages any more and there are millions of people who want to adopt. The only reason women have abortions is because it is too much trouble to give their child a life, even with adoptive parents.

Kave February 3, 2010 at 22:05

As for the question why would abortion matter to those grandmothers?

I had a relative who dropped acid more days then there was days in the month. Her and her boyfriend met in a mental hospital. Besides the acid she and her boyfriend were so dripping with any drug known to man (including one day when I went to look in on them and they were injecting peanut butter??) that you could get high within a 30 meter radius.

For reasons beyond knowledge she actually knew she was pregnant at 6 weeks, when I looked in on them shooting peanut butter. Back then you had to stand before a committee before an abortion was granted. It took another 3 months for the committee was able to schedule her in.

If she was able to have an abortion at 6 weeks considering her substance abuse I would have been fine with it, but because of the laws she was 4 1/2 months pregnant when she was allowed an abortion.

There is a good part of me that would have incarcerated her at 6 weeks pregnant, and I do consider that an option for wombs like hers. But again that opens up a whole set of social problems that reminds me of what Romania went through.

But another part of me would be much happier if a baby is aborted at 6 weeks gestation instead of being born retarded (links to LSD and Downs Syndrome were huge for anyone working with retarded children in the 70′s).

Pro choice vs pro life is often black and white. I don’t see it that way. I see it as adoption being the only valid choice for those faced with that situation, but I also ask what the pro-life side is going to do with babies that no one will wants.

The Fifth Horseman February 3, 2010 at 22:08

Actually, I doubt any of these old hags are actual grandmothers (at least within wedlock and proper family structure). They are leftover hippy feminists from 1969, who now are just old, but never actually became matronly at all.

Grandmothers don’t say ‘bullshit’ on TV, where their grandkids might see them.

I call Bullshit on THEM.

fedrz February 3, 2010 at 22:18

But another part of me would be much happier if a baby is aborted at 6 weeks gestation instead of being born retarded (links to LSD and Downs Syndrome were huge for anyone working with retarded children in the 70’s).

My youngest uncle has Downs.

He is now in his 60′s, but when he was born, was not thought to be able to have a lifespan beyond his late 30′s.

He is the family favourite. He lives a good life. He has a simple job – so he earns his own pocket money. He loves horseback riding. He has a girlfriend who also has Downs – longterm too, and they are more successful than most people, lol, although I don’t know if they have ever had sex – he gets pretty red in the face if you razz him about kissing.

He has a talent – he is spectacular at playing the organ. Much better than me, and I myself have taken several years of piano lessons.

He is a good person, he is happy, he brings happiness to others… and the world is a better place because he lives in it.

Dumb on the rest of us, for running like turkeys, trying to find happiness and realizing we never find it, nor bring it to others.

Everyone is happy when he is around, despite his sometimes “odd” antics. They are part of his charm.

He makes the world a better place, and he deserves to live.

I would like to abort mass-murderers though.

Kave February 3, 2010 at 22:22

David

You are wrong.

There are tens of thousands of “special needs” kids in the U.S who are not adoptable. Or should I say have not been adopted.

And yes there are orphanages in the U.S, they are called “foster parents” for profit. Babies, then children stagnant within them without ever finding real parents.

And yes Virginia there are still institutions for the mentally retarded, most of the children living in them were given up by their parents.

Most parents that want to adopt want a healthy baby with a decent genetic history. Very few people want the crack baby born in the toilet (unless said crack baby makes the news).

Again for the most part I am pro-life. I just don’t ever want to see someone again have an abortion at 4 1/2 months instead of 6 weeks where normally the child should have had a natural miscarriage. There are many women who are not fit to be mothers, I just happened to have someone slightly in my life who could not be a womb.

David February 3, 2010 at 22:32

Now, Kave, you have reduced your argument to mentally retarded children. My broad point still stands. Most of the babies aborted would have no trouble finding adoptive parents. Millions of parents are desperate to adopt.

The only reason they can’t is because little bitches would rather abort.

Kave February 3, 2010 at 22:38

Fedrz

I am sorry if I offended you, as you know there are many levels to Downs Syndrome.

If you look into “acid babies”, kids born from mothers who dropped acid there was a large percentage of , and I do apologize for not using the right terminology, waterheads. Huge heads, small bodies, small life span… I did a stint volunteering as a teen at a residential center and back then they were considered to be a form of Down’s. Not the same as your Uncle, but I don’t know the proper term.

I am not an expert but I do know there a thousands of special needs kids in the U.S who do not have homes. I also know there are thousands of parents in the U.S wanting a child.

I just feel that my uncle has a right to live. I don’t doubt it was a devastating blow to his family when his parents discovered he had downs. But, life works out sometimes in mysterious ways, and it is not always so cut and dried. In fact, I often attribute my father’s family having such a jovial, forgiving nature, to the experiences they had growing up with a younger brother who had downs syndrome.

ian in hamburg February 3, 2010 at 22:52

This post and its at times sickenly racist commenters focus on how old the Raging Grannies are, but I’d be willing to bet that each of them knows from her youth a sister, relative, or friend who died because of a botched back-alley abortion. Let women choose what to do with their own bodies.

Kave February 3, 2010 at 22:53

David

The rate of parents waiting to adopt/abortions does not equal. Even today special needs children ie: those over the age of two esp, of color and/or disability do not get adopted. There had never been an equal supply and demand ratio regarding adoption. White children from healthy backgrounds are a rarity and a commodity, the rest are not.

If you are of the belief that we should outlaw abortions, and also outlaw social nets for welfare moms then we have to come up with an alternative solution that works.

Scattered February 3, 2010 at 23:50

You use the typical trick of deflecting the focus away from the child onto the mother, there is more than one life in this equation.

Consider the child support/abortion double standard, men are legally obligated to provide for the child, a child they had no choice to abort, while women have no obligation keep it alive. To twist your own words- Let

men

choose what to do with their own

money

. -These are your beliefs in reverse.

Abortion demonstrates a complete lack of accountability (in most cases) for a choice. They allowed themselves to get pregnant yet are not prepared to man up if you will and endure 9 months of inconvenience finding an appropriate family.

Nearly 1 billion estimated abortions since 1922, a complete disregard for human life.

As an aside I would interested to know how many feminists are also vegetarians.

Most abortions are not had by scared teenage girls who need a way out. Many abortions are repeat and many are had by women in their late twenties or early thirties who are more than capable of caring for a child. Some are even mothers who have three kids already and don’t want a fourth because they want to go back to work or some other reason. Most abortions are because for reasons of lifestyle choice. Many women who find out their child is disabled are put under pressure by their doctor to abort. I know several women personally who can tell this story. Maybe if instead of pressure and shame the doctor provided support and ideas for how the woman and her family can deal with the news there might be fewer abortions. Maybe if abortions were not so easy to come by and there was not a general culture of death in the West women would not abort their children because “it is not a good time for me”, “it will get in the way of my career” or “i’m done having my babies now.” Not good reasons to kill !

Kave February 4, 2010 at 02:02

The women in the picture look like women in their 60′s-70′s… which should be you grandma’s age? Best argument for abortion? How is that?

It’s an issue because they (the super-bowl and corporations behind) decided to not run a gay dating site ad but chose to run a prochoice ad. This is not a bash old women thread.

It is the corporations right to chose the sponsor, and the bidders right to bid under a free market society.

The sponsor has been chosen, case closed.

aussie girl in australia February 4, 2010 at 02:07

Oh and Kave, I happen to be very familiar with many right to life organisations in my country. I know for a fact that they provide support during the pregnancy and after the child is born. Some groups are more politically driven but there is not a lack of support out there. That is just another lie spread by the Pro-Abortion lobby.
The Pro-Abortion groups however like to deny the real pain of women who have had abortions. “Giving Sorrow Words” is a book containing stories of women who have had abortions and then been left with nothing by the pro-choice crowd. “Defient Birth” is another book which talks about women who were pressured into abortion by the doctors but chose not to. Both books are written by Melinda Tankard -Riest.

Eugenics here we come!

David February 4, 2010 at 02:37

Look, Kave, it’s late here and maybe I am tired, but I still think you are being dense. A proportion of children will have special needs. But they are a red herring. There are plenty of adoptive parents who would take on the vast majority of otherwise aborted children, the normal ones.

On another matter under debate, I feel, humanly speaking, that there is something peculiarly disgusting about grandmothers – traditionally figures of peace, love and fruitful life – baying for abortion. It is unseemly. People instinctively know and feel this.

When I was born, my father was disappointed because I had a circulatory anomaly in my right leg, called Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome. There was debate among the doctors as to whether I should have my leg amputated.

Yes, I have had trouble with that leg, but I have still lived a full life. I have been to sea on a commercial fishing boat, I have got a Ph.D., I have married and fathered children, I have played rugby.

Many, many parents would choose to abort a foetus like I was, which could be determined to be abnormal using ultrasound these days. I am glad there was no abortion when I was growing inside my mother. You can see that I naturally take this subject rather personally.

Scattered February 4, 2010 at 03:00

@aussie girl

Don’t this the wrong way because I do agree with all of what you say.

However it really nags me when people bring up the psychological effects that abortion can have on women because in all truth it shouldn’t come into the equation. Its life should be determined purely on the basis of it inherent right to live and not through selfish motivation.

When the topic of abortion is focused on the mother then it imply’s the mother is what matters and therefore the concept of abortion is easy to defend.

David February 4, 2010 at 03:15

What really makes me laugh is the way that these stupid feminists snivel about sealpups, eating meat, dolphins, whales, “all living things”, etc., etc., in one breath; and in the next breath seek to destroy unborn human life. Their hypocrisy is absolutely breathtaking. Are the men that support them just as stupid, dishonest and unreflective? Maybe.

And then there are the fuckwits who bleat about the death penalty and ask how one can support the death penalty but not abortion. Because, you ineffable morons, there is a difference between guilty life and innocent life.

“Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first send insane.”

mgtow February 4, 2010 at 05:31

Folks, it’s all a matter of control. Thus goes the mantra ‘my body, my choice’.

Fine ladies. Have it your way. Personally, I don’t give a damn to abortion or other female health issues (eg. breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer). In fact, if it comes down to either an abortion, or 18+ years of child support payments, I’d say bring on the abortion.

My problem comes when pro-abortion folks attempt to use taxpayers’ money to fund abortions, or similarly, use it to fund ‘research’ for female diseases. Dangerous back alley abortions? Not my problem. I’m a guy.

Ladies, don’t like abortions or getting ‘oops’ pregnant? Shut your legs. Use contraception; there are so many available these days, all highly affordable and effective. Already pregnant and don’t want the baby but abortion pricks your conscience? No problem! Wait out 9 months, squirt out the kid and give it away for adoption(who knows, maybe you can sell that baby in the black market). Then make sure to never get pregnant again. Don’t have the will to do it? I heartily recommend tubal ligation or hysterectomy. Planned Parenthood is your friend.

cybro February 4, 2010 at 07:16

Those evil broads better be careful what they wish for. The government may decided it would be better to abort them than pay them social security so they can sit on their asses doing nothing but polluting the environment. This is where this death cult is headed.

Kave February 4, 2010 at 08:17

David,

It’s not a red herring. I do not want to pay for alcohol syndrome children and crack babies etc. But I do fund them with my tax dollars because I am given no choice in the matter. Unless your parents sucked on the government teat to raise you your genetic issues are not my concern.

Now if women were stopped abusing their children before they were born by stiff prison sentences I would be all for this, but they are not and I do not wish to take care of the result.

Aussie girl. You’re equaling eugenics with being able to support the children you have? Before welfare and in the third world if you cannot support them they die. As it stands now the more crack babies you push out the larger check you get from daddy government, hence you are actually rewarded!

If that I despise this practice makes me a fan of eugenics then I will gladly sign up for that title.

Mgtow,

Crackheads and assorted junkies are not responsible enough to take birth control. From what I understand after that first abortion it’s common for doctors to highly suggest they use an iud

Scattered February 4, 2010 at 08:32

Look at the names of the participants.

Oh, and gee-whiz.
They’re ALL white.

I just had to post in the comments of the video. For daring to say that men should have reproductive rights by having an equal right to opt out of support I got a few childish responses. The last of which was “Don’t f*ck crazy women”. Well, that about eliminates all of them then where I live. Not that I view most men as being any more sane, especially in a society where so many people are so proud of what they don’t know. Welcome to the “Age of Stupid”.

I am not really pro or anti abortion. I do see it as murder and dehumanizing. It is interesting to note that first wave feminists were also against abortion for the same reasons.

The issue that I have with videos like this is that it is an attempt to suppress freedom of speech.

Firepower February 4, 2010 at 10:01

You state you are neither pro nor anti. You do not have a position.

You state we have entered an “Age of Stupid.”

If so, what gives credibility to thinking said Stupid care about “free speech” issues.

Renee February 4, 2010 at 10:11

Kave,

I do not want to pay for alcohol syndrome children and crack babies etc. But I do fund them with my tax dollars because I am given no choice in the matter. Unless your parents sucked on the government teat to raise you your genetic issues are not my concern.

I’m guessing you mean paying for the treatment of these conditions right? Because if you are then wouldn’t this apply to just about everyone when it comes to all types of hospital patients and people with illnesses?

I’m guessing this goes along with your idea of abortion being the lesser of two evils.

THANK. YOU.

Renee February 4, 2010 at 10:15

Kave,

In my mind I’d rather crack whores abort then give them another few hundred dollars in food stamps to neglect their babies, who grow up to be another generation of crack whores and gang bangers.

Here’s the thing though, and one of the reasons why I’m so iffy about abortion. Who are you or anyone to determine how one’s life will turn out?

Firepower February 4, 2010 at 10:36

Renee February 4, 2010 at 10:11

I’m guessing you mean paying for the treatment of these conditions right?

Sweetie, if my mandatory taxes are earmarked for alcohol syndrome children and crack babies – I want YOU to either pay for it, go down and volunteer your titty for suckage – or sack the fuck up.

Better yet: you liberals pay for it all. You’re the ones who want it.
I’ll pay for a Charleton Heston Memorial Bronze Statue fund.
Or abortions for crackheads.

Kave February 4, 2010 at 10:48

Renee,

As long as I don’t have to pay for them, or see starving children on the streets because I’m not paying for them it is no business of mine.

Yes wonderful some wonderful adults emerge from their childhood welfare ghetto, but they are few and far between. In North America as in every other country the lowest common denominator for some reason seems to be the ones to procreate the most. Historically this has always been the case but natural selection ie: child death rates tended to balance things out.

Encouraging the lowest common denominator to procreate is in my opinion what the North American and European governments are doing, all in the name of the fear of eugenics. I of course curse the third reich for many different reasons, one of them being the legacy of PCness that has stop us as a society from becoming logical regarding this curse on modern society.

“If I ruled the world” (all thinking individuals think this at one time or another) I would be inserting IUD’s along with giving out clean needles, and incarcerating “mothers” who abuse their children in the womb. Unfortunately I don’t so I am left with the only option available and that is to thank those thankless individuals to not add to the social welfare problems we as a society are already facing.

Richard February 4, 2010 at 10:48

I know why those old crones are so unhappy…
Their NEED for sex is not being met.

HENCE – they go into an irrational MELT-DOWN, and say and do really stupid things.

And more often than not – a powertool just doesn’t stir the soup…

Kave February 4, 2010 at 10:58

By the way when I said “for some reason” my eyes were rolling. Responsible people have children when they are ready for them, they build the nest first. Irresponsible people hump like rabbits with no thought to the consequences except for maybe a few more dollars in their welfare check or bragging rights to another boy from the various baby mommas.

Joseph February 4, 2010 at 11:01

@ Kathy

Disgusting.
Jesus weeps.

Nope, I’m pretty sure Jesus is fit to be tied about all this non-sense. When He get’s back it’s going to hit the fan on a truly Biblical scale.

Kave February 4, 2010 at 11:08

From my bible readings the first thing Jesus would do is live amongst the crackheads, then he’d go tear down those muti-million dollar temples of indulgence built by con artists and paid for by the souls hoping for redemption and the chance at an afterlife.

Joseph February 4, 2010 at 11:11

He already did that. Next time he comes, it’s going to be to end the non-sense.

Well, Jesus is you kid, Joe.

Exactly, and the Bible tells us what His next coming is going to be like. Jesus came for salvation the first time (I”m well acquainted with His quotes you referenced at the top). Next time it will be to reap the harvest. That’s why I’m an advocate on this site. Christian men are the only hope for the salvation of their homes before His return.

BTW, I’m 27 :)

Joseph February 4, 2010 at 11:23

I’m just messing with you Firepower. However, it was a good chance to get all that into the comments.

Personally, I’m against it in my own life, but I don’t feel like I have the right to force my will on everyone else as law.

But I can tell you that my ex had an abortion before we met, and it did affect her even to this day. Not on a daily basis, but she would have fits of depressions, and she would ask me if I would love that baby as much as ours, if she had it. During our marriage, the ex became “born again”. I think it was her way of dealing with a lot, including this.

Just before our divorce, we went to marriage counseling and in the middle of the counseling session, she started crying and carrying on about the abortion again. (This is over 10 years after the fact.) The counselor looked at me with fire in his eyes and asked me “You two had an abortion?” I whispered to him “previous relationship”. He then looked dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say.

LOL. Ask him yourself, your entitled. As for nips, he knew women would need them so he included it in our genetic makeup.

Meritocracy February 4, 2010 at 12:41

@Firepower

I don’t really take a stance on abortion because I feel that it is just another method of ignoring underlying problems. Abortion is used far more to remove the consequences of irresponsible behavior that has become the norm in society.

As to my reference to the “Age of Stupid”, I am referring to the fact that most people do not take the time to think and allow others to formulate opinions for them. There is far too much group-think and media influenced opinion in society. It has already been shown that most of the teens and twenties in this country have views that are contrary to those the United States was founded on and were incorporated into the Bill of Rights.

Free speech is not commonly believed in by most. Bring up any controversial issue, especially those pertaining to women, and see just how fast someone tries to prevent you from voicing your opinion. I have brought up the issues men have faced in dozens of groups over the last three years and the issue is either immediately smothered or they derail it into how “unfair” society was and is to women. Even the most “fair” woman I have met always makes it out that women have it worse than men and make excuses for or refuse to acknowledge the ways in which men are mistreated.

The odd thing is that it was actually a women that made me look into gender issues much more deeply 5-6 years ago when I brought up the pay gap and she pointed out it wasn’t true. She would have fair knowledge of this having thousands of employees, most of the top ranks being women.

Firepower, this was very entertaining.

Renee, you aren’t seriously trying to get him to answer a straight question, are you? Just read the haikus and try to gather wisdom.

Hi-Grade February 4, 2010 at 18:52

I believe the Eskimos had the right idea about old useless females. Leave them on an iceflow for the polar bear to eat. You may want to see the film the Savage Innocents (1960) with Anthony Quinn and Peter O’Toole.

Because of course Hollywood (or its’ European equivelent) is always historically accurate.

Novaseeker February 5, 2010 at 02:30

From my bible readings the first thing Jesus would do is live amongst the crackheads, then he’d go tear down those muti-million dollar temples of indulgence built by con artists and paid for by the souls hoping for redemption and the chance at an afterlife.

Yep, just like he did in the Gospels, right? I recall reading about Jesus torching the houses of the rich and inciting class revolution. Che Jesus!

The reality is that Christ was all about spirituality. They tried to recruit him as a political revolutionary against their Roman overlords, and his response was that people should pay their taxes, basically. Yes, he overturned the merchants tables in the *temple*, but that’s because they were in the *temple*. He didn’t generally attack rick merchants. And while he criticized many times the accumulation of wealth as an end in itself, this was always couched in spiritual terms as being soul-killing. He certainly never advocated class warfare or the kind of “social justice” on a governmental scale that we see countless so-called “Christians” advocating today. It irritates me when the Gospel is misused in this way.

David February 5, 2010 at 03:05

Nor did Christ admonish the centurion for being a soldier or a member of an occupying force.

And those “those muti-million dollar temples of indulgence built by con artists contain the world’s greatest artists, created by the world’s greatest artists (all men, by the way.)

Let’s keep a sense of proportion. Feminists hate organised religion. Think about it …

David February 5, 2010 at 03:06

Correction:

And those “muti-million dollar temples of indulgence built by con artists” contain the world’s greatest art, created by the world’s greatest artists (all men, by the way.)

Usually I can follow Firepowers little haikus, but his last one concerning my question was so out there that I had to ask. I guess it was too much to ask for. At least Kave gave a good answer.

Black&German February 5, 2010 at 08:48

You have to admit that the answer was funny, though.

Jay Hammers February 5, 2010 at 18:21

What’s so vulgar about this video? From all I’ve heard, CBS is planning to air an advocacy ad although it routinely has rejected them. If CBS aired a feminist ad but denied a men’s rights ad, would you not support a bunch of old ladies bitching about it? I would.

More info from MoveOn.org:
“The broadcast networks that air the Super Bowl have historically rejected advocacy ads. Yet CBS, which is airing the Super Bowl this year, has accepted an anti-choice ad by the ultra-conservative group Focus on the Family.

Focus on the Family’s “celebrate life” (read: anti-choice) ad features Heisman Trophy-winning college football star Tim Tebow. And CBS approved this anti-choice ad, even though the network has repeatedly rejected advocacy ads in past years, including a 2004 MoveOn.org ad that went after then-President Bush’s fiscal irresponsibility and an ad the same year from the United Church of Christ showing them welcoming a gay couple who had been turned away from another church.

Click here to sign the petition to CBS insisting they follow their no-advocacy policy and reject the Focus on the Family ad before the Super Bowl on February 7.

More recently, on Friday CBS rejected an ad from a gay dating site showing two men discovering a mutual attraction when their hands brush in the potato chip bowl. The actors then pantomime a comical make-out session. But CBS says the ad “is not within the Network’s broadcast standards for Super Bowl Sunday.”

So to recap: CBS wouldn’t allow a group to criticize Bush, wouldn’t let a religious group promote its own tolerance of LGBT families and considers a light-hearted dating ad out of bounds. But CBS is perfectly happy to allow Focus on the Family to promote its conservative social agenda.

We must call CBS out on its hypocrisy and demand that it also reject the Focus on the Family ad. The Super Bowl is America’s annual most-watched television event; more than 98 million Americans tuned in last year. And as anyone who’s ever been to a Super Bowl party knows, the ads can be even more closely watched than the game, which is why CBS must not unfairly allow anti-choice commercials while rejecting those for other causes.”
