Milestone

by Welmer on November 19, 2009

The Spearhead passed the 10,000 comment mark yesterday morning, and is still averaging over 200 comments per day. This is great, and I’m glad to see the discussion carrying on here.

My next plan is to integrate the bulletin board with the articles, so that people can post directly on The Spearhead forum.

One thing that has impressed me is the quality of commentary. We have some very bright guys posting here, and I am happy to see that we are actually getting to the heart of things. Any resolution (if possible) to our dysfunctional system is going to take a lot of thought and discussion before it begins to emerge, so perhaps this is a good first step. I want to thank all the contributors as well as commenters for their participation in our project. This is grounds for hope.

Many congrats Welmer…you’ve put together a top-notch website here.

And it will only get better in the future. The American/Western men’s rights movement is just gearing up!

The response shouldn’t be too surprising – there has clearly been a void in the MRM that needed filling. This site adds a clear and unambiguous voice to that unseen/unheard segment of society – not the usual “play nice” PC dialog of more “so called” mainstream mens sites.

Keep up the good work!

On a somewhat related note, I know what we need right now, and can make you guys some money.

MRA/Spearhead paraphanelia.

T-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers. Stuff like that. These things can have two affects. First, advertise this site and the issues it stands for. Essentially educate the public. Second, rub feminist noses in it. Get in their face so to speak.

I have one idea for a T-shirt:

This is what someone who hates Feminists looks like.

But just having a bold masculine “MRA” all over the place would please me greatly. By the way, I’m an artist with extensive graphic design training, so if you need anything along those lines, holla. But in all honesty, simple stuff will work just great. Nothing more than what an amateur could work up in photoshop would do great for now. Your Spearhead logo alone would work great.

Thoughts?

IMO this place is the best of the best. Congrats Welmer.

“Any resolution (if possible) to our dysfunctional system is going to take a lot of thought and discussion before it begins to emerge, so perhaps this is a good first step.”

You do a grave dishonor to many men before you if you think The Spearhead is the first step. More accomplishment, then pride – you’ve put the two out of order.

The Spearhead is very good.

Nice Welmer. Everything is going forward.

About merchandise, there’s the danger of devolving in a female vesion of “Male are bastards, stab them” that guys like Harry have critiziced heavily.

I have also seen way too many sites become shit in the second they start to get cash for it (besides the minmal amount of Google Ads, that only makes a page take longer to download and can bug a page).

And finally, handling a store is a full time job that can overload someone with a site too popular (which I also have seen).

Besides, too many people do posts in here and money can make it get too “complicated”. Don’t like saying it but it’s necessary.

I would suggest instead free logos, they can be submitted in a large format, get downloaded and there’s shops that can put it in a T-shirt, a cap, a jacket, etc.

I see your point. But the below would be more than enough for me.

“I would suggest instead free logos, they can be submitted in a large format, get downloaded and there’s shops that can put it in a T-shirt, a cap, a jacket, etc.”

Really, I’m just going to do my own stuff when I have time, maybe try to sell a little. I see the wisdom in avoiding too much controversy, but I also see the benifit. Really, just the Spearhead Logo, or the letters MRA on a shirt would make me happy. Imagine how happy you would be seeing another man walk down the street with an MRA t-shirt on. I’m just saying.

The MGTOW logo would do just fine.

@Jabberwochie

Small correction. That isn’t controversy, is a recipe for internal strife. But logos and stuff are a cool idea. Maybe even Wallpapers.

I was more referring to controversy in the “Male are bastards, stab them” sense that you were talking about earlier (or are you saying that would inherently cause internal strife?). Basically, what our mechandise actually says or how it says it type of controversy. I see the wisdom of stirring up controversy from a purely PR standpoint in this way. No publicity is bad publicity, or what ever the saying is. But I also see the danger in being labeled and easily dismissed as a hate movement, which is already a strategy the Feminist are employing against us, so it would probably be wise for most stuff to be simple logo’s and such that rather advertise our cause, allow people to discover the more nuanced elements of it on their own, rather than shoving it down the throats of the general population with stuff like, “Feminists are stupid, throw rocks at them.” as hilarious as that would be to me. I hope this isn’t getting too confusing, so let me try to summarize my current feelings again taking into consideration what has been said.

We need to advertise, but likely in a non-0ffensive way, by wearing and displaying our various logos, be them MGTOW, MRA, PUA, or more specifically, the Spearhead. I feel this would be nothing but beneficial.

As for controversial displays and slogans, that should be debated so that the appropriate considerations are done as to the overall impact. I’m for personally being offensive, ie. the Angry Harry route. We simply need more attention.

Jabherwochie’s idea is a good one. Cafepress is your friend. Money corrupts, but it’s also necessary for a site—and Welmer himself—to keep going.

Well, I meant a good first step for The Spearhead, but take it as you like…

“Imagine how happy you would be seeing another man walk down the street with an MRA t-shirt on.”

The awareness on this is growing rapidly, and I support anything which will feed the momentum. On another forum, a man has done a superb job of creating a ‘Red Pill’ warning for men concerning marriage. An ounce of prevention……

Welmer, thanks for taking the initiative to put this all together.

How is the traffic count?

Do we have any way of measuring our contact with the not already converted?

I know that we already have the women’s auxiliary…but what about a connection to like-minded women’s sites?

Welmer, thanks for taking the initiative to put this all together.

How is the traffic count?

It’s been pretty good. The most important thing to me is subscribers, and we have hundreds of them now. Unfortunately, it’s dropped off a bit lately since I haven’t been feeling up to posting much for the last few days.

About 43% of all visitors are first timers. I’d like more, but the SEO takes time to really kick in, and this is still a pretty new site.

Sure, it’s possible. I think sharing links might be the way to go there. However, I think I’ll let them take the initiative on that.

Great job with this site Welmer. It’s really blown all my expectations out of the water. (when the topic of the “big tent” first came up over at Nova’s 4 months ago).

Re: Spearhead merchandise

I was going to bring an idea up to Welmer; now is a good time:

“The Men of the Spearhead” commemorative calendar. Sadly, the only purchasers would be Jack Donovan, kis, and chic noir :)

@Jabberwochie

I was talking about setting a shop (given that this is a WordPress domain, you don’t need to unless you are paying for fancy stuff). But you nailed one of my other concerns, namely giving ammunition to the Feminazis, they already make up all kinds of bullshit against us, so I don’t see why we should help them. Every step of them against us must be a struggle.

Besides I’m a believer of giving them more rope so they can hang themselves. All the shaming language don’t help their cause much. :D

@Welmer

“The most important thing to me is subscribers …”

I subscribed to both feeds yesterday after reading this. I was too busy reading the articles to think about it before.

Maybe it would be a good idea to put the subscription buttons together, and a reminder box near the top (with something like “If you like this site, please subscribe so that we can keep our [Google or however this works] stats up”).

By the way, you are doing an excellent job!

Oh, and I read somewhere that there is a preview button for comments, but haven’t been able to find it yet.
