As for college data, I was right on the aggregate and wrong on the trend. White men and women are equal when it comes to educational attainment, unadjusted for age as 27.7% of white men and 27.1% of white women have at least a Bachelor’s.

However, adjusted for age the 2008 census shows 26.7% of 25 to 29 year old white males have at least bachelor’s degree compared to 35.9% of white women in that same age group (22% vs 27.1% for just bachelor’s).

This data is for the civilian noninstitutional population, so adding in prisoners and military might further skew the data against men.

The bedrock reality is that if a man cannot form a family he is going to destroy, and eventually that society will be overtaken by other groups with superior (family oriented) forms of social organization. For this I have to turn to Herbert Spencer in the Man Versus The State:

I have been pointing out the fact that women are increasingly the victims of violent crime by men who were raised by women……women laugh at me…oh well…laugh all the way to the morgue. The first line of defense for a woman, the man in the street, is increasingly not going to come to her rescue. If a woman was being mugged in front of me I would not help her. She is ‘equal’. She can help herself. Exactly like I would have to.

Not counting “discouraged workers” and other complications – the white male college graduate unemployment rate is 4.2%. The white female college graduate unemployment rate is 3.8%. Not a big difference. (For non hispanic/non African American college educated workers the gender gap is 0%)

In reply to the “But more women are in college now” meme that pops up as a natural response to the above data: The male/female gap in college education is largely driven by under performing African American men skewing the statistics against men.

Actually, the gap is significant for non-Hispanic whites, though it’s greater for blacks and Hispanics and less for asians. Last I saw, for non-Hispanic whites college enrollment was 57% women, 43% men.
